I think CPS schools need a change. That change should start with the families (parents) of the students, but I really don't think that will happen. The teachers and curriculum's of the schools are fine (for the most part), and shouldn't be targeted as the problem. Discipline and follow through are immediate concerns that should be looked at.
The problem is, the administration of the CPS school system is dormant on these issues because they are afraid of lower attendance. To me, quality is better than quantity. I'd rather have 10 students in my class that are going to follow through, than 30 that won't, causing those 10 that might have followed through, to no longer try.
I think it would be a great idea for heads of CPS to put themselves in the sub role and sub "incognito" in schools that are targeted as "problem schools." Only with this can the heads be exposed to the real problems of the schools and their lack of respect towards teachers and the school system itself.
